Good Morning Everyone!! I spoke with Curt's nurse yesterday at 9:00am and she told me Curt's results were in their computer and ready to be read. She left a note for Dr. Mason to call me as soon as he had time to review the scan. After babysitting the phone ALL day...I finally got a call from Dr Mason at 4:00pm! He told me there was good and bad news....... the area where Curt's tumor was removed was clean, the area that was starting to grow back...a few months ago......showed no new activity. But there is a new spot in the back of his brain that is either a new growth starting or damage done from the radiation he had a year ago. I shared with him Curt was having sharp pains in the back of his head and on a scale of 1-10 Curt said they were about a 7. Well Curt's pain tolerance is pretty high...... so for Curt to say it is a 7....means ....not just a little pinch! The doctor didn't feel Curt should have pains from damage due to radiation but felt Curt should have a follow up MRI in about 60 days and just watch and see how he feels! NOT Good enough!!! After our last situation back at Duke with the biopsy....and they kind of blew the new growth off until we pressed for more answers...guess what......we have decided to get another doctor's opinion today! I'm calling his surgeon and also the gamma doctor who explained Curt's MRI to us in detail about 8 weeks ago. She was the first doctor to really show us all the details going on in his head and the areas we need to watch. Curt wants to see first hand this new area they are talking about. If this is new growth...we don't want to Wait and Watch!! We're going to try to get in today or tomorrow! As far as Dr. Mason, his oncologist....Curt feels it's his job not to get real close and show any real concern, it's his job to relay info and that's that! Our job is to get a few more answers....time is a factor on this type of tumor...60 days??...this tumor could take over...if it's new growth! It's sad that the medical industry is like this now and patients need to get aggressive to get answers. So we're doing Ok..... another bump in the road! God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of a sound mind and we're trusting that He is carrying us and directing us to the next step He wants us to take. So hold tight....we'll let you know what we find out as soon as we can!
Love and God Bless, Shari
